Alright, today I’m talking about mindfulness. Not mindfulness of staying in the present moment and taking in all the beauty around us (although that’s pretty great, too). I’m talking about being mindful of yourself. Being mindful of your thoughts, your words, and your actions. Just about the only three things we are actually in control of.
I’ll be honest, this weekend I had a little bit of an attitude hiccup. As an only child (a needy one, at that), its easy for me to get caught up in thinking that everything is about M-E. As I was on a drive with my boyfriend, I made back to back comments that not only made me look entitled, but made my boyfriend take a step back and call me out. Yes, it hurt to hear his feedback. But it hurt more to know that I could be so unaware of my actions and the way I was treating my loved ones. I never want to be selfish, entitled, or bratty. Yet, that’s exactly how I came across. What a reminder for me to be more mindful and conscious of how I’m treating others.
Today, I challenge you to reflect on how you are controlling your thoughts, actions, and words. Are you being too expectant of others? Are you being bossy to friends? To family? To coworkers? Only when we recognize this behavior are we able to change. It’s Monday, and let me just say— I’m excited for the opportunity to try this whole non-bratty, loving human being thing again.
Here are some fun, bratty, mindful pictures that I thought would be fun to share 😉
