I LOOOOOOOOVEE BEAUTY PRODUCTS.
BUT I LOATTTHHHEEE HOW MUCH THEY CAN COST!
Does this scenario seem familiar to anyone?
“Oh my gosh! This NARS highlighter is like so perfect for summer!” $32.
“Oh but, I need this ‘Too Faced’ lip kit to match my new highlighter.” $28.
“Okay, well now that I’m nearing the Anastasia aisle, I can’t finally grab what I came here for: Brow Wiz.” $22.
*On way to register* “I did not see this Tarte nude eye palette. It’s $48, but I’ll never need eye shadow, again!!! Do I want to put back the lip kit or brow whiz?”
“Forget it. I can’t have a pretty cut crease with ugly eyebrows and chapped lips. Let’s just get them all, and we’ll tell my boyfriend there was a blowout sale!
Yep, story of my life. Forever handing over $189.78 every time I step foot in a beauty store. This is why I seriously avoid these places. Honestly, I went there to get my mom a giftcard for Mother’s Day and look what happened! I’m the girl who likes to find her staples, and then she remains loyal and never strays. But there’s been something about this Spring, or being pregnant that has made me seriously revamp my entire beauty regime.
So in an effort to save everyone money, I’ve gathered a few products that I am absolutely loving this month. These are products that are for sure worth their dollar value, and then some!
I am a MAC Studio Fix girl, through and through. It’s was going to take a miracle foundation to make me switch up my brand. I’ve tried BB creams, skin tints, etc. but because I like a full coverage look I’ve always remained true to MAC. What made me try something new, and absolutely love it? NARS. This foundation… guys, I love so many things about it. What I first noticed was the consistency. It’s a little runny. But not in a watery, diluted way. It’s perfect because I often find myself beating the back end of my MAC bottle to get a drip onto my blender. This application was easy. Just a little pour & apply. And not to mention, the color was flawless. It has a glowy finish which is perfect for the upcoming warmer months. Once I saw my shade was ‘Barcelona’, it was all over for me. I mean MAC NC35, just doesn’t ring like Barcelllonnnnaaa.
I’ll be honest, this one was a freebie for handing over a third of my paycheck. But after trying it out, I would certainly purchase this again. I love matte, in fact, it’s the only kind of lip I wear. But I’m pretty picky because most mattes dry you out before you’ve finished your morning latte. This one is glossy and lasted through lunch. Keeper!
It works! And It burns! Obviously nothing works better than a needle full of Botox, but that doesn’t mean we can’t try a doop! I originally purchased these for my mother’s Christmas stocking. Us DeBano girls’ love a good, plump lip. But injections are too cumbersome. So we opt for these lip masks instead. They plump in ten minutes, and last for hours. Perfect for Summer weddings, or photoshoots when you want a little extra ‘va va voom’.
I’m a converted believer in these wipes, ya’ll! Since junior high, I’ve been using store brand, cheap-as-can-be makeup wipes to remove my makeup at the end of the day. It wasn’t until I noticed beauty bloggers raving about these and saying they. are. the. best. and let me tell you they are! They remove makeup, clean, and purify the skin. For 8$, they better. They smell like a fresh minty, cucumber melon. and remove so much more makeup than my store brand ones, it’s scary. I’ll never go back!
This is embarrassing, I’m 28 years-old and this is my first skin care product since my brief stint with Proactive in high school. I’ve just never needed it. I’d always relied on the hand soap that was next to the sink, but pregnancy was making me breakout. I’ve enjoyed this product so far. My skin is clear and there really is something therapeutic about setting aside 10 minutes at night to cater to your self.
Give me all the things with ‘filter’ in it!! I’m a huge fan of Becca products. I was torn between the new Smashbox Primer Water and the array of Becca Primers. I chose Backlight over Smashbox because it had ‘water’ in the title. I was thinking $32 for something that is water based or at least has water in the solution. No thanks, mama wants creamy, glowy, goodness slathered on her bare skin! This Becca primer glides on smooth, and has just the right amount of glow to affect your foundation. Love this one more than SmashBox PhotoFinish Primer, or MAC primer.
Late to the party, as usual. I never got on the “Better Than Sex” mascara train. I was stuck in the “Telescopic” trance. I’m a sucker for pretty marketing, so the box had me at ‘EXTREME’. I didn’t even know it had (2) different steps/tubes until I tried it for the first time. I have very short, small lashes (just genetics. I don’t like pick at them or anything). I was worried the fibers were going to be clumpy like Younique Fiber Mascara, but it wasn’t. It was the opposite. My lashes look fuller, and think. Sorry, Telescopic, I’ll keep you in the back of the drawer for the days when I can’t afford a $35 mascara.
Awww my first favorite pregnancy product. My dad’s girlfriend sent me this in a care package. I’m finally 4 months pregnant so I can start rubbing it on my tummy without feeling like a weirdo! I like the smell, and the non-greasy feel after application.
I cannot say this enough. This is my favorite, all-time lip stick/crayon/gloss/matte/heavenly cream for the lips. It is my go-to every day of the week. The consistency is so creamy, and it lasts for about 7 months (if applied daily, multiple times.) I probably have to reapply 2-3 times a day, but it really makes your face pop. It’s not dry, and its not super glossy. It’s just right. I get a lot of compliments on this color, as well as, Bare. This a must have if you like the matte look.
This one was an impulse that totally paid off! I’ve always used Anastasia products for contouring but I wanted a new shade since Summer is approaching. This bronzer is a decent size, and is extremely pigmented. I’ll probably be able to hand this puppy down to baby once she’s ready to contour in 16 years.
Okay, phew. There you have it. My May 2018 Favorites. Did you guys enjoy this haul and should I do more of them in the future? Please let me know in the comments section below.
